Experience
Simona has played internationally in different venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Webster Music Hall, the Bitter End, Arlene’s Grocery, El Taller Latinoamericano, and Drom in New York, to name a few. She has performed in recitals in the Rose Building in Lincoln Center.
She has sung in different choral situations in famous cathedrals in New York as well as on the Met stage. She sang with the Young New Yorker’s Chorus for two years.
She worked at La Bestia Sala de Ensayos in México as the administrative/label manager 2018-2019— a renowned music hot spot in Condesa, México City: and maintains a good relationship with them to this day.
She was a consistent force at Buck’s Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp and worked in the Music Shed and the Studio for three years. She taught at the School of Rock in three separate locations and worked as the musical guitar-playing teaching assistant at the SAM school.
She studied classical voice, songwriting, as well as advanced music theory for four years at LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. She continued her musical studies at Purchase College Music Conservatory where she studied Studio Composition and was fortunate enough to pursue Jazz voice as an elective.
She has studied with multiple Juilliard graduates and renowned musicians in the New York area. She completed the Open Course at Maqamat in Tzfat and continues to pursue her Oud studies in Nazareth.
She is currently a flamenco voice student of the renowned flamenco maestro Fernando Caballo Ponce, with whom she continues to expand her musical knowledge and connect herself to her Sevillian roots.
She will be releasing an original album in the upcoming year recorded mostly with renowned musicians from the Puebla and Mexico City area.
She has a strong understanding of Western classical theory as well as a versatile knowledge of pop, rock, opera, classical, jazz, and Middle Eastern music and its theory.
She sings all styles and speaks English, Spanish, Hebrew, Portuguese, basic Arabic, some Japanese, and can sing in Italian and French. She has an understanding of linguistics and the phonetic alphabet.
Simona has spent a great amount of time pursuing spirituality and has a thorough understanding of each Abrahamic religion with an emphasis on Judaism and Christianity— and after having a health scare in 2019 amongst other challenges as a multidisciplinary musician— she has come to understand deeply how important it is for artists to keep a healthy mindset and truly connect with themselves on a deeper level to continue their craft with ease.
She continues to play and teach music in the Nazareth and Haifa area to this day.
